What we do in this life will not determine where we go when we die, but what we do will determine what it will be like when we get there!
Revelation 20:11-15, “Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” (NIV)
1) How you Believe determines if your name is written in the Book of Life
2) How you Behave, as written in the books of deeds, determines what your existence is going to be like—will not be the same for everyone!
2 Corinthians 5:6-10, “Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. We live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please Him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.” (NIV)
2 Questions Come Up:
1) If God loves me unconditionally, can He really hold me accountable for the things I do?
2) If we ask for forgiveness, doesn’t God forgive us and forget all of our sins—never to bring them up again?
2 Implications:
1. Every Day Matters
2. Sacrifice and Obedience is an Investment
